HC engaged the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) to conduct an initial assessment of the water stewardship practices of a rubber processing mill in Indonesia, including an analysis of the water usage patterns of the mill. The HC team used the opportunity to develop a better understanding of the AWS standard and how it might be integrated into our service offerings including HPDC.
Rubber processing is a water-intensive process, so water is a strategic input for the mills, and they have to ensure that their operations do not negatively impact the water accessibility of their local communities.
The study concluded with recommendations on how to improve the mill’s water management practices, manage water-related risks and improve water stewardship.
